Construction begins on Highway 11 truck stop project in Smooth Rock Falls, with fall 2027 completion target

Construction has started on a planned commercial truck stop development in Smooth Rock Falls along Highway 11, a project led by RJ Construction owner Ranbir Dhaliwal and targeted for completion in fall 2027, according to the Town of Smooth Rock Falls.

The development is expected to add new services for commercial drivers and travellers stopping in Smooth Rock Falls, including a 24-hour truck stop and a Tim Hortons.

The town said it marked the start of the project with an official groundbreaking.

In its announcement, the municipality said the site is expected to include public washrooms and shower facilities, an electric vehicle charging station, car washes, a propane filling station and an RV dumping station.

The town also said the development is expected to include a Tim Hortons, and that additional restaurants and other amenities are anticipated.

Coun. Jean-Marie Couture said in the town’s release that the project is expected to provide services for residents and people travelling along Highway 11.

The town’s announcement did not include a cost estimate for the project or the site’s exact address.
