Durham Region Transit Adds New Electric Buses
Durham Region Transit (DRT) has announced the addition of six new electric buses as part of its E-Mission Zero program. This initiative is funded by $12.1 million from the Canada Community-Building Fund. The buses will be stationed at the Oshawa depot and are planned for use on high-volume routes.
Furthermore, DRT has secured a credit agreement with the Canada Infrastructure Bank to support the acquisition of up to 98 more electric buses. This effort aligns with DRT's target to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions by 2037.
The introduction of these electric buses is a step towards DRT's goal of transitioning to a fully sustainable fleet, infrastructure, and facilities.
