Hong Kong Brand Shredded Coconut Recalled Over Salmonella Risk

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has announced a recall of Hong Kong brand shredded coconut due to a risk of Salmonella contamination. The affected product is sold in 454 gram packages with UPC 0 22291 67054 7, and bears a best before date of 2025 JL 20.

According to the CFIA, the recalled shredded coconut was distributed across Canada, including in communities throughout Northern Ontario. The recall was initiated after test results identified the possible presence of Salmonella.

As of the recall notice, the CFIA stated there have been no reported illnesses linked to the consumption of this product. The agency is advising consumers not to eat, use, or serve the recalled shredded coconut.

The CFIA is continuing its investigation and will update the public if additional products are recalled.
