Hydrant Flushing Scheduled in Timmins North Area
The City of Timmins, through its Environmental Services Department, has announced hydrant flushing and watermain cleaning activities scheduled to take place from September 10, 2024, until October 10, 2024.
Affected Areas:
- Timmins North Area, starting at Algonquin Blvd. West from MacLean Dr. to Theriault Blvd., including Fogg Hill and Melrose area.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas may experience temporary water service disruptions. These disruptions may include short-term low water pressure and discolored water.
Recommendations for Residents:
- It is advised not to drink or wash laundry with discolored water. If discolored water occurs, residents should turn off their tap for 10 to 20 minutes to allow the crew to complete their work.
- If water remains discolored, residents should turn on the cold water tap closest to the source (usually the laundry tub tap) and let it run for approximately 15 to 20 minutes or until the water color returns to normal.
The city has indicated that while discolored water is not harmful to health, it can stain laundry.
Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly during this period.
