Kapuskasing taking nominations for 2026 Citizen Recognition Awards until Sept. 30

Kapuskasing is accepting nominations for its 2026 Citizen Recognition Awards, with submissions due by Sept. 30, 2026, according to a town notice posted Sept. 16.

The awards provide a way for residents to nominate individuals, groups and organizations in Kapuskasing for recognition through one of several award types listed by the town.

A nomination poster outlines four “types of recognition”: a certificate, a medallion, the “Key to the Town,” and the naming of a municipal asset.

Certificates are described on the poster as being “for a wide range of achievements and milestones.”

Medallions are described as recognizing “Exceptional Community Builders.” The poster lists 13 medallion categories: Arts & Culture; Community Services & Volunteerism; Courage; Economic Development; Education; Environment; Healthcare; Innovation; Leadership; Legacy; Sports; Valor; and Youth Leadership.

The poster describes the “Key to the Town” as being “for exceptional ambassadors who bring recognition to Kapuskasing.”

The poster also lists “Naming of Municipal Asset” as a recognition option, described as being “to honour an individual who has made an extraordinary and lasting contribution to our community.”

The town has not announced when recipients will be named or when any awards will be presented.
