Northern College Innovation Hub Reports Growth in Student Projects

Northern College's Department of Applied Research, Entrepreneurship and Innovation has reported growth in its Innovation Hub activities. According to the department, the number of supported entrepreneurs increased from 8 in 2016 to 33 in 2018. Additionally, applied research projects grew from 2 to 14 during the same period.

The Innovation Hub provides students with access to industry knowledge, research, and development space. Third-year electrical students developed a self-healing communication system for underground use in collaboration with industry partners.

Dr. Fred Gibbons, President and CEO of Northern College, stated that experiential learning opportunities help graduates transition into the workforce with competitive skills.
