Oversized Hydro One transformer move planned Feb. 25 with temporary closures in Timmins and Schumacher
Don Anderson Haulage will haul a Hydro One transformer through Timmins to Schumacher on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026, moving it from the rail siding on Hallnor Road to the transformer station on Brundy Avenue. The City of Timmins says the load’s width will occupy a two-lane road where shoulder space is limited.
Drivers in Timmins and Schumacher may face temporary road closures, parking restrictions and delays along the route during the move, which is expected to take about six hours.
According to a public notice from the City of Timmins, the move will start on Hallnor Road at 9 a.m. on Feb. 25.
The city says temporary road closures will be in effect on Aura Lake Road and Croatia Avenue between Father Costello Drive on Feb. 25, prohibiting travel and parking from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Temporary road-closure signage will be in place, the notice says.
The city also says a number of utility trucks will escort the load because of its height.
The notice says residents should expect temporary traffic delays as the load travels along Highway 101 East, Father Costello Drive, Aura Lake Road and Croatia Avenue.
The city suggested drivers use alternate routes to avoid delays during the move.
