Pistachio products recalled in Ontario over possible Salmonella; clerk‑served Loblaws, Zehrs cake included
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a food recall warning on Sept. 26 for various pistachios and pistachio‑containing products distributed in Ontario due to possible Salmonella contamination, including a clerk‑served Baker Street Chocolate Pistachio Cake sold at Loblaws and Zehrs stores between July 22 and Sept. 25, 2025.
The recall is linked to an ongoing CFIA investigation into a foodborne‑illness outbreak, and the Public Health Agency of Canada is investigating illnesses. Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled and can cause serious illness; young children, pregnant women, older adults and people with weakened immune systems face higher risk.

The recall is classified as Class 2 and applies to products distributed in Ontario. Recalling firms are Amore Gelato, Baker Street Bakery Inc., East India Company Ltd. and La Brioche. CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to additional recalls, and is verifying that industry is removing recalled products from the marketplace. The recall identification number is RA‑78151.
