Public Hearing Scheduled for Zoning By-law Amendment in Cochrane

The Town of Cochrane has announced a public hearing regarding a proposed amendment to the zoning by-law. The hearing is scheduled for October 22, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. and will take place in the Council Chambers at Town Hall, located at 171 Fourth Avenue. The meeting will also be available via live stream on the town's website.

The proposed amendment seeks to permit the establishment of a grain farm headquarters, which will include facilities for machinery storage, a workshop/office, and grain storage/handling/shipping, including rail siding. Additionally, the amendment proposes a reduction in lot frontage to approximately 60.51 meters for the specified lands.

The subject lands are identified as South Part Lot 24, Concession 3, Glackmeyer, specifically Parts 1 and 2 on 6R-8511. The amendment would change the zoning from Rural (RU) to Special Rural Zone (RU-xx).

Residents interested in participating in the public meeting are encouraged to submit written requests to the Town’s Land Use Planner by October 21, 2024. Written and oral submissions will be part of the public record and will be posted on the Town’s website along with the meeting minutes and recordings.
