Public Hearing Scheduled on Severance Application for 2860 Highway 579 in Cochrane

A public hearing on Application B2025-04 will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Town Hall, 171 Fourth Avenue in Cochrane, according to a notice issued by the Cochrane and Suburban Planning Board.

The hearing will consider a proposal by R. & M. Woods to sever a lot at 2860 Highway 579. The notice was published under Ontario Regulation 197/96, and states that residents may attend to share their views prior to a decision.

According to the planning board, the application seeks to create a new lot of approximately 4.04 hectares (10 acres), with 91.44 metres (300 feet) of frontage on Highway 579. The remaining land would total about 71.54 hectares (176.8 acres), with roughly 622 metres (2,043 feet) of frontage on Bonfield Road. The property is legally described as Lot 28, Concession 11, Glackmeyer.

Residents who wish to participate in the public hearing are asked to contact Town Hall by June 9, 2025, to arrange attendance, according to the notice. The planning board further notes that anyone seeking to appeal the decision to the Ontario Land Tribunal must submit a written submission before a decision is made.
