Sea Horse Brand Shrimp Recalled in Quebec for Undeclared Sulphites

A recall has been issued for Sea Horse brand Easy Peel Shrimp (908 g) in Quebec due to undeclared sulphites, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) on July 12, 2025. The affected product has the UPC 8 32365 00187 9 and a best before date of February 17, 2026.

The CFIA stated that the recall was triggered by test results showing the product contains sulphites, which are not declared on the label. According to the CFIA, sulphites may cause serious or life-threatening reactions in people with allergies or sensitivities. As of the date of the recall, the CFIA reports there have been no allergic reactions associated with this product.

Consumers in Quebec are advised by the CFIA not to consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute the recalled shrimp, especially if they are allergic or sensitive to sulphites. The CFIA recommends checking for the recalled product and either discarding it or returning it to the place of purchase.

Soline Trading Ltd. is the recalling firm. The CFIA is continuing its food safety investigation and is verifying that the recalled shrimp is being removed from the marketplace. According to the agency, the recall is classified as Class 1, indicating that exposure to the product could potentially cause serious health consequences.

At this time, the recall applies only to Sea Horse brand Easy Peel Shrimp distributed in Quebec. No additional products or distribution areas have been included, according to the CFIA.
