Timmins Canada Day events, parking changes and fireworks on July 1
Timmins will mark Canada Day on July 1 with events at Hollinger Park and Gillies Lake Conservation Area, with fireworks over Gillies Lake after sunset; parking lots at both sites will be closed.
The City of Timmins outlined parking changes, free parking options, and a full day of activities and entertainment for attendees at both locations. The schedule includes food, vendors, games, and live music, culminating with a fireworks display after dark at Gillies Lake.
At Hollinger Park, the parking lot will be closed for the event. A limited number of accessible spaces will be available at the park entrance.
At Gillies Lake, the parking lot off Highway 655 will be closed from 6:00 a.m. on June 30 through July 1 to allow for fireworks setup and display.
Free parking will be available on July 1 at municipal meters and in all city lots: Spruce N. Lot, Algonquin Lot, Third Ave. Lot, Pine S. Lot, Library Lot, and Coalition Lot (Timmins Transit).
Food service will include one free hotdog, hamburger, or vegetarian option per person, plus water, while quantities last. Freeze pops and Canada Day cupcakes will also be handed out. Four local food trucks will sell items, including poutine.
Activities include inflatables, face painting, inflatable axe throwing, a large inflatable obstacle course, and free mini-putt. Twenty-five local vendors and community groups will participate.
Live entertainment is scheduled throughout the day, featuring headliners Rosewood Ave.
Fireworks are planned at Gillies Lake after sunset, provided by Supernova Fireworks.
Northern College will host additional family activities, and a live DJ will close the program.
