Timmins plans watermain break repair on Croatia Avenue in Schumacher March 13

City of Timmins crews were expected to repair a watermain break on Croatia Avenue in Schumacher on March 13, with possible water service disruptions between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The affected stretch is Croatia Avenue from Ponderosa Street to Veterans Street, the city said.

The city said nearby homes and businesses may see low water pressure, a short-term loss of water service, or brown or rust-coloured water during the work.

In its notice, the City of Timmins advised residents not to drink discoloured water or use it to wash laundry. The city said the water is not harmful to health, but it can stain clothing.

If water turns brown or rust-coloured during the disruption, the city said residents should turn off the running tap for 10 to 20 minutes to allow crews to finish.

After the repair is completed, the city advised running cold water from the tap closest to the source—usually a laundry tub tap. The city said to let it run for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water returns to its normal colour.

The city called the repair emergency work.
