Timmins Police Arrest Suspect After Convenience Store Robbery

On March 22, 2024, members of the Timmins Police Service responded to a call at a convenience store in the north end of Timmins shortly after 9pm. A female suspect entered the store, gathered various items, and attempted to leave without paying. When confronted by the store clerk, the suspect brandished a weapon and assaulted the clerk before fleeing the scene.

The store clerk contacted emergency services, and police arrived to assist. The clerk was taken to Timmins and District Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The suspect, identified as Christina Tapas, 30, of Timmins, was located and arrested shortly after the incident. The weapon used was also recovered. Tapas remains in custody pending a bail hearing and faces the following charges:

  • Robbery with violence
  • Aggravated assault
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Failing to comply with a probation order

A future court date has been scheduled.
