Timmins police say Balsam Street North search warrant led to fentanyl and handgun seizure, two charged

Timmins police say a search warrant executed Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, at an apartment on Balsam Street North led to the seizure of a handgun, fentanyl and other drugs, and about $12,000 in cash, with charges laid against a Timmins man and a 15-year-old from Hamilton.

The case stems from a joint investigation by the Timmins Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit and the Ontario Provincial Police Northeast Region Community Street Crime Unit. Police say the warrant was carried out by the Timmins Police Service Emergency Response Team and that several occupants were arrested inside the residence.

Police reported that a youth was found in possession of a handgun, a “significant quantity” of cash and illicit drugs. The youth and Joshua Dompierre-Dean of Timmins were arrested and taken to the Timmins Police Service station.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of a young person accused of an offence is protected from publication.

Police said a search of the accused and the residence resulted in the seizure of 66 grams of fentanyl (including brown and pink powder), 63 grams of cocaine, 34 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 152 oxycodone (Percocet) tablets, and 2,000 methamphetamine tablets.

Police also reported seizing a Glock 20 Gen 4 10 mm handgun with six rounds in the magazine, approximately $12,000 in Canadian currency, digital scales, cellphones and packaging materials.

Dompierre-Dean and the youth were jointly charged with possession of fentanyl, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine and oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking, and with proceeds of crime over $5,000, police said.

Police said the 15-year-old also faces three counts of failure to comply with a release order and one count of failure to comply with a youth sentence.

In addition, police said the youth is charged with several firearm-related offences, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, and careless handling of a firearm.

The allegations have not been tested in court.
