Timmins posts Family Day 2026 closures, transit pause and Feb. 17 waste pickup
Several City of Timmins services will be closed or not running on Family Day, Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, and Monday’s household waste and recycling pickup will move to Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, according to the city’s posted municipal schedule.
The changes affect common day-to-day needs such as transit, library access and garbage pickup, while a limited number of recreation and cultural facilities will operate on a holiday schedule.
The city schedule lists Service Timmins and the Provincial Offences Office as closed on Feb. 16.
The Timmins Public Library, the C.M. Shields Library branch and Timmins Economic Development will also be closed.
Timmins Transit will not run on Family Day.
There will be no household waste and recycling collection on Monday, Feb. 16. Residential waste and recycling collection that falls on Monday will be collected Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026.
The Deloro Landfill Site will be closed.
The Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16.
The Archie Dillon Sportsplex Arena and Pool will be open on Family Day.
Sportsplex pool schedule (Feb. 16):
- Open swim: 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
- Adult swim: 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Free open swim: 1:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Open swim: 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
- Open swim: 4:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Free public skating at the Sportsplex arena is scheduled for the following times:
- 12:00 p.m. to 12:50 p.m.
- 1:00 p.m. to 1:50 p.m.
- 2:00 p.m. to 2:50 p.m.
