Timmins to Hold Public Meeting on Community Improvement Plan Amendments
The City of Timmins will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 220 Algonquin Boulevard East. The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input on proposed amendments to the Community Improvement Project Area and the Downtown Community Improvement Plan.
The proposed amendments include changes to the Community Improvement Project Area in several locations:
- Porcupine: Extending westerly along King Street from the Ontario Northland Railway to Coot Lane, and along a section of Highway 101 East to Crawford Creek.
- South Porcupine: Extending along Harold Avenue from Crawford Street westerly.
- Schumacher: Extending easterly from McIntyre Road along Father Costello Drive.
- Timmins: Adding various properties in the Downtown and in close proximity to Algonquin Boulevard.
- Mountjoy: Extending westerly from the Mattagami Bridge to Shirley Street.
Additionally, the Downtown Community Improvement Plan will be amended to include these changes and to remove boundary area schedules from the Downtown CIP. This will allow the Council to amend the Community Improvement Project Area By-law without having to amend the Downtown Community Improvement Plan By-law.
Residents are invited to attend the public meeting and provide written or verbal feedback. Those who wish to be notified of the Council's decision must make a written request to the City Clerk. More information, including details about appeal rights, can be obtained from the Planning Division at the City of Timmins.
