Timmins to lift reduced load limits May 29 at 11:59 p.m.; Mahoney Rd. half-loads until June 20

Reduced load limits for commercial motor vehicles and trailers will end in Timmins on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. on municipal roads covered by the city’s by-law. Half‑load restrictions will remain in place on Mahoney Rd. until Friday, June 20, 2025.

The seasonal restrictions are intended to reduce pavement damage during the spring thaw. They are established under City of Timmins By‑law 2006‑6275 and are subject to Section 122 of Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act. The change affects trucking and hauling on roads where the by‑law applies.

By‑law 2006‑6275 sets out when reduced load periods are in effect. The restrictions are typically in place until mid‑June, depending on conditions. Specific streets and road sections covered by the seasonal limits are listed in Schedule A of the by‑law.

Mahoney Rd. is an exception this year, with half‑load limits continuing through June 20, 2025. Operators traveling that corridor remain subject to the extended weight limit restrictions until that date.

Some roads in Timmins carry load restrictions year‑round. Those locations are identified under By‑law 2022‑8708.
