Certain Shell Eggs Recalled Over Salmonella Risk
The Canada Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for certain brands of shell eggs due to potential Salmonella contamination. The brands affected by this recall include Compliments, Foremost, Golden Valley Eggs, IGA, no name, and Western Family.
Salmonella infection can lead to serious health issues, especially in vulnerable groups such as young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms typically include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea, as reported by health authorities.
Consumers are advised to avoid consuming, serving, using, selling, or distributing the recalled products. It is recommended to check for these products and either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
The CFIA has stated that the recall was prompted by test results, and there have been no reported illnesses linked to these products so far. The agency is continuing its investigation into the matter.
