Cochrane council to consider appointing Kaela Girard as deputy treasurer starting Aug. 31, 2026

Cochrane town council is scheduled to consider a bylaw at its regular meeting Tuesday to appoint Kaela Girard as deputy treasurer, with a start date of Aug. 31, 2026, the Town of Cochrane said in an Aug. 10 press release.

The appointment would place Girard in a senior finance role as the town works on its 2025 audit and the implementation of its Asset Management Plan—two areas the town said she will help with.

Girard previously worked in the town’s Treasury Department, the town said.

CAO and interim treasurer Daniel Gagnon said he expects Girard to be with the municipality long-term. “I look forward to working with Kaela for years to come under what I am calling a mutually beneficial do-over,” Gagnon said in the release.

The town said Girard has financial experience and software skills.

Girard also commented on her planned return to the municipality. “I’m very excited to be returning to the Town of Cochrane. I’m grateful for the opportunity to come back, bring some new experience and perspective with me and continue contributing to a community I’m proud to call home,” she said in the release.

Council’s decision on the appointment would be made through the bylaw listed for Tuesday’s regular meeting, according to the town’s announcement.
