Cochrane mayor proclaims September 2026 as Hunger Action Month

Cochrane Mayor Peter Politis has proclaimed September 2026 as Hunger Action Month in Cochrane, according to a proclamation the town posted online Aug. 12. The proclamation is dated Aug. 11, 2026.

The proclamation asks residents to support the Cochrane Food Bank during September by donating non-perishable food items, offering financial support, or volunteering.

The proclamation says hunger and food insecurity remain serious issues in Cochrane and across Canada. It also says Food Banks Canada and its network of partners have designated September as Hunger Action Month.

The document includes broader statements about demand for food-bank support and community involvement, saying “more people than ever are turning to food banks for support” and that the need for involvement “has never been greater.”

It also says food insecurity affects people “from all backgrounds,” including children, seniors and working families, and that addressing it requires shared efforts from individuals, organizations and governments.

The proclamation cites the Cochrane Food Bank’s year-round services for residents in need.

Politis signed the proclamation in his capacity as mayor.
