Cochrane to hear request for two-horse hobby farm at 3 Fifth Street

Cochrane’s Committee of Adjustment will consider a request to keep two horses at 3 Fifth Street during a public hearing on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 171 Fourth Avenue.

The proposal requires exceptions to two zoning rules: one that does not allow hobby farms in the property’s Residential First Density (R1) zone, and another that limits hobby farms to four hectares. The application seeks permission for a hobby farm of approximately 5.06 hectares.

Property owner Todd Calaiezzi is applying to establish the hobby farm as a secondary use alongside the existing residential use. The two horses would be kept for his personal use.
