Emergency watermain repair may disrupt service in Timmins’ Mountjoy area on Sept. 2

Water service may be disrupted in Timmins’ Mountjoy area west of the Mattagami River on Sept. 2, 2026, from 2:30 a.m. to about 4 p.m. due to an emergency watermain repair, the City of Timmins says.

Some homes and businesses in the affected area may have no water, low water pressure, or discoloured water during the repair.

The city says potable water will be available at the Archie Dillon Sportsplex for residents to refill reusable bottles or containers, and staff will be on site to help.

After repairs are completed, residents who see discoloured water can run cold water from the tap closest to the source—often a laundry-tub tap—for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water returns to its normal colour, the city said.

The city says residents should not drink discoloured water or use it to wash laundry; it says the water is not harmful to health but can stain clothing.
