Moosonee Town Council Approves Airport Contract, Receives Policing Update
The Moosonee Town Council met on January 23, 2025. Council members approved the awarding of a contract for phase one of airfield electrical rehabilitation at the Moosonee Airport. According to the official minutes, Tisdale Mechanical Contracting Ltd. received the contract for improvements to runway and taxiway lighting systems.
Council approved the write-off of taxes on several properties that have been marked as uncollectible due to arrears or eligibility for tax sale, based on the documentation presented during the meeting.
Representatives from the Ontario Provincial Police attended to present the 2023 municipal policing billing statement for Moosonee. The presentation included an explanation of changes to annual billing and cost structure.
The Superintendent of Public Works provided a report on winter maintenance activities, including snow removal and conditions at the waste disposal site.
