Northern College finalizes two MOUs with universities in the Philippines
Northern College finalized two memorandums of understanding (MOUs) on July 7 with Ateneo de Davao University and Asia Pacific College, both in the Philippines.
The agreements set out areas where the schools plan to work together, including educational exchanges, access to Northern College programming and training, and collaboration related to programs and curriculum. The college’s release did not provide timelines, participant numbers, or which specific programs would be involved.
Ahmed Baghdaddy, Northern College’s executive director of global engagement, said the agreements are intended to provide “opportunities to study abroad” and “resource and curriculum sharing.”
The MOU with Ateneo de Davao University covers academic mobility, international learning sessions, joint research collaboration, and global internship opportunities, according to Northern College.
Ateneo de Davao University is in Mindanao, Philippines. Fr. Karel S. San Juan, president of Ateneo de Davao University, said the university’s work is “closely tied to the realities, challenges and possibilities” of the region and includes teaching, research and community work focused on “development, peacebuilding, and the formation of communities.”
The agreement with Asia Pacific College covers program and curriculum review and development, faculty learning opportunities, training and skills development, student exchanges, research, and the delivery of short courses by Northern, the college said.
Agassi Adre, director of international linkages at Asia Pacific College, said the partnership will allow the institutions to share “knowledge and practices from both countries.”
Northern College said it has established four international MOUs with institutions in several countries over the past year.
