Smooth Rock Falls Addresses Key Issues at ROMA 2025

The Town of Smooth Rock Falls participated in the 2025 ROMA Conference, engaging with key ministries to address local issues. Representatives met with the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and the Ministry of Northern Development.

Discussions focused on the impact of reduced funding from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) on local projects. The town highlighted the necessity for increased funding for small rural northern communities, particularly for infrastructure such as roads and waterlines.

The town also addressed the history and challenges of its senior housing project, seeking support to advance this initiative. The Ministry of Northern Development's previous funding contributions, including projects at the Reg Lamy Cultural Centre, were acknowledged.
