CFIA recalls Mounit el Bait tahina in Ontario and Quebec over undeclared peanut

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a Class 1 recall of Mounit el Bait brand tahina distributed in Ontario and Quebec after test results found undeclared peanut, according to a federal food recall warning.

CFIA said the product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction for people with peanut allergies or sensitivities, and the agency advised those affected not to consume the recalled tahina.

The recall applies to these products:

  • Mounit el Bait Tahina (454 g) — UPC 281029 254215; PRO: 07/01/2026; EXP: 06/01/2029; LOTNO: 250715
  • Mounit el Bait Tahina (908 g) — UPC 5 281029 254215; PRO: 07/01/2026; EXP: 06/01/2029; LOTNO: 250715

CFIA said the recall was triggered by its test results. The agency also said there have been no reported reactions associated with consumption of the recalled products.

CFIA said it is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of other products, and that it is verifying industry is removing the recalled tahina from the marketplace.

Golden Gate Inc. is listed as the recalling firm. CFIA’s identification number for the recall is RA-82334. The notice was last updated July 17, 2026, according to the CFIA recall page.
