Timmins Hospital Implements New Masking Policy Due to Respiratory Virus Surge
Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) has moved from Green (Low) Risk Status to Yellow (Medium) Risk due to an increase in respiratory virus-related illnesses in the community. Starting November 1, 2023, the hospital has reinstated its mandatory masking policy.
- Staff, Physicians, Volunteers, and Contractors: All individuals in these categories must wear a hospital-approved mask in all areas of the TADH site and offsite locations. Additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required for patients under additional precautions or on units experiencing an outbreak.
- Patients, Designated Care Partners, and Public: All patients and designated care partners must wear a mask upon entering TADH main site and offsite facility at St. Mary’s Gardens. The mandatory masking does not apply to children under the age of two or those unable to wear a mask due to medical conditions or disabilities. Temporary removal of masks is permitted for admitted patients in their rooms, during athletic activities, while consuming food or drink, or for any emergency or medical purpose.
- Visitor Restrictions: The hospital is reverting to Designated Care Partner (DCP) visitation, allowing two DCPs per patient, with a recommendation that only one visits at a time. Masking is required by DCPs at all times during visits. Exemptions for end-of-life and exceptional circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
For specific questions about patient care, individuals are encouraged to contact a member of the care team.
