Timmins to flush hydrants in Porcupine area July 14 to Aug. 10
Timmins will flush fire hydrants in the Porcupine area from July 14 to Aug. 10, 2026, with work scheduled between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., according to a notice posted by the city’s Environmental Services Department.
Residents and businesses in the affected area may see brief drops in water pressure and temporary brown or rust-coloured water while flushing is underway.
The notice says the flushing area runs from Crawford Street at Highway 101 East heading east to Bob’s Lake Drive, including Hallnor Road.
If water becomes discoloured, the Environmental Services Department recommends residents and businesses not drink it or use it for laundry. The notice says the discoloured water is not harmful to health, but it can stain laundry.
The department also advises that if discoloured water occurs during flushing, residents should turn off the tap for 10 to 20 minutes to allow crews to finish. After flushing is completed and crews have left the area, the notice advises turning on the cold-water tap closest to the water source—usually a laundry-tub tap—and letting it run for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water returns to normal.
The notice did not include a street-by-street schedule for when flushing will occur within the area during the July 14 to Aug. 10 period.
