Timmins reports wastewater overflow at Whitney-Tisdale Pump Station #2; end time and volume listed as to be determined
The City of Timmins reported a wastewater overflow at Whitney-Tisdale Pump Station #2 at 57 Evans St. that began at 6:20 a.m. on April 13, 2026. The city listed the end date, end time and volume bypassed as “to be determined” (TBD).
Overflows can affect local waterways and may indicate strain on parts of the wastewater system. For residents, the city’s notice provides the basic timeline and location of the event, while leaving key details—such as how long it lasted and how much wastewater was bypassed—unconfirmed.
The notice was posted online at 1:58 p.m. on April 13 by the city’s Environmental Services Department.
In the same posting, the city said bypasses or overflows can happen when a treatment plant or treatment process is overwhelmed. It also said these events are often caused by heavy rainfall and/or snowmelt, though the notice did not state a specific cause for the Whitney-Tisdale Pump Station #2 overflow.
The city said that during a bypass or overflow, partially treated wastewater is diverted away from a treatment process to prevent backups, overflows or damage to the system.
