Timmins Secures $9 Million for Housing Development

The City of Timmins will receive $9 million from the Ontario government’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund to support the expansion of the Melrose Heights subdivision. This funding will facilitate the creation of approximately 257 residential lots.

The project is planned in two phases, beginning with the installation of over 2,100 meters of infrastructure. The funds are allocated for the engineering, design, and construction of water mains, storm, and sanitary sewers.

Scott Tam, Director of Growth and Infrastructure, highlighted that the funds are crucial for providing essential services required for the development. Mayor Michelle Boileau noted the importance of increasing the housing supply to meet regional demands.

This initiative aims to address the housing needs in Timmins by enhancing the necessary infrastructure for new residential developments.
