A bypass involving partially treated wastewater occurred at the Mattagami Water Pollution Control Plant in Timmins on April 29, 2025. According to a report issued by the City of Timmins, the bypass started at 12:19 p.m. and ended at 3:31 p.m. The total volume of water discharged during this period was about 7,494 cubic metres. The release went into the Mattagami River.

The City of Timmins reported that the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks was notified through the Spills Action Centre, following established procedures.
