CFIA recalls four Ghirardelli powdered beverage mixes sold online in Ontario over possible Salmonella contamination
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a food recall warning on May 14, 2026, for four Ghirardelli brand powdered beverage mixes sold online in Ontario and possibly other provinces and territories because of possible Salmonella contamination.
The recall matters for anyone who ordered these products online or has them at home, because Salmonella can cause illness even when food does not look or smell spoiled, according to the CFIA.
CFIA’s recall notice says people should not consume, use, sell, serve, or distribute the affected products. The agency says recalled products should be thrown out or returned to where they were purchased.
Affected products include:
- Ghirardelli Premium Hot Cocoa Mix (907 g) — UPC 7 47599 62012 6; codes S449250A04 063027
- Ghirardelli Perfectly Premium Frappé Mix - Vanilla (1.36 kg) — UPC 7 47599 62105 5; codes S594262 BEST IF USED BY 073127
- Ghirardelli Premium Frappé Mix - Mocha (1.42 kg) — UPC 7 47599 66211 9; codes S295262 BEST IF USED BY 063027
- Ghirardelli Premium Frappé Mix - Frozen Hot Cocoa (1.42 kg) — UPC 7 47599 66213 3; codes S393260 BEST IF USED BY 073127
According to the CFIA, young children, pregnant women, older adults and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of serious and sometimes deadly infections from Salmonella. The agency says healthy people may experience symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea, and that long-term complications can include severe arthritis.
The CFIA says the recall was triggered by a recall in another country and that there have been no reported illnesses linked to these products.
The agency says it is conducting a food safety investigation and that additional products may be recalled. CFIA also says it is verifying that recalled products are being removed from the marketplace.
The recall is listed as Class 2 with identification number RA-82079. The recalling firm is United Utensils Inc., according to the CFIA notice.
