CFIA recalls Heeva Fine Foods pistachios sold at Richmond Hill store over possible Salmonella contamination

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a food recall warning on April 28, 2026, for Heeva Fine Foods brand Pistachio Nuts (200 g) with UPC 0 51061 00569 5, citing possible Salmonella contamination. The CFIA said the affected product was sold at Heeva Fine Foods, 10454 Yonge St., Richmond Hill, Ontario.

The CFIA advised people who bought the product to check their packaging because food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause illness. The CFIA said young children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of serious and sometimes deadly infections.

According to the CFIA recall notice, the affected product is Heeva Fine Foods Pistachio Nuts, 200 g, with “all units sold in 2025 and 2026” included in the recall.

The CFIA’s notice says people should not consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled pistachios, and that recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.

The CFIA said healthy people who become sick from Salmonella may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, vomiting and diarrhea, and that long-term complications may include severe arthritis.

The CFIA said its test results triggered the recall and that there have been no reported illnesses associated with consumption of the product.

The agency said it is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of other products. It also said it is verifying that industry is removing the recalled product from the marketplace.

The recall notice lists identification number RA-81929 (Class 2).
