Timmins Prepares for Winter Snow Management
The City of Timmins has outlined its preparations for the upcoming winter season. The Public Works Department is tasked with managing winter services such as salting, sanding, plowing, and snow removal on roads and sidewalks. To ensure readiness, the department has a winter plan that involves testing snow clearing equipment, distributing sand supplies across the city, and training new staff to respond to changing conditions.
A winter overnight parking ban will be in effect from November 1 to April 30, 2025. Vehicles parked on the street during this period may face restrictions. Temporary 'no parking' signs will be used to inform residents about snow removal activities. A weekly schedule for snow removal will be available online at Timmins.ca.
Residents are encouraged to remove temporary basketball nets and other equipment from driveways and curbs to facilitate snow removal. The city also reminds residents that snow should not be moved onto streets or sidewalks, as this can create safety hazards.
For those planning to install temporary winter car shelters, a permit is required. These structures can be erected from October 1 to April 30, with permits available for $15 through Service Timmins.
