Timmins sets Adopt-a-Block cleanup for May 22–23; bulk items and yard waste collection run May 11–25

The City of Timmins says its Adopt-a-Block Community Cleanup Days will take place Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23, 2026, with separate curbside and landfill cleanup options running May 11–25, including bulk-item pickup, leaf and yard waste collection, and one free load of household waste per property at the Deloro Landfill Site.

For residents, the May schedule includes both volunteer litter pickup in public spaces and municipal collection services for items that do not fit regular waste pickup, according to the city’s announcement.

The city said residents, local businesses and schools can choose a public area—such as around a neighbourhood block, workplace, playground, trail system or other public space—and pick up litter after snowmelt.

“When the snow melts, there’s often a lot of litter left behind,” said Meagan Baranyk, the city’s community programs manager.

The city said it will provide cleanup kits with gloves and garbage bags. Timmins Environmental Services will collect the garbage picked up on May 22 and 23, and the city said participating teams will use an assigned drop-off location for collection.

The city also outlined its annual Residential Curbside Bulk Item Collection Program, running May 11–25, 2026, for “large, bulky items that are not accepted through regular waste collection.”

As part of the same May 11–25 period, the city said the program includes one free load of residential household waste per property at the Deloro Landfill Site.

Leaf and yard waste collection is also scheduled for May 11–25. The city said Timmins Public Works will deploy a dump truck and chipper along residential streets to mulch branches, tree trimmings and organic plant material from gardening and yard maintenance.

In its release, the city said about 30 teams and 80 individuals took part in last spring’s Adopt-a-Block cleanup.
